Research

The National Disability Authority has a statutory function to undertake commission or collaborate in research projects and assist in the development of statistical information in relation to disability.

Our focus is on research that is relevant to policy and services for people with disabilities, in the context of social inclusion. We do not undertake medical research

Our programme of research is designed to identify issues that may require policy attention, to underpin our advice and guidance on policy, practice and implementation, and to monitor the implementation of policy and standards.

In addition to in-house research and analysis, and commissioned research on specific topics, we also periodically operate a Research Promotion Grants Scheme where we invite research proposals under a broad theme.
