On 5 December, NDA staff received a briefing from Susan Kennefick (Director’s Office) on the work of the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA).
Organised as part of the NDA’s Public Sector Human Rights and Equality Duty Action Plan, the briefing was the second in a series, with the first focusing on the experiences of disabled Travellers and Roma in Ireland. Susan highlighted a range of ongoing work undertaken by FRA to advance disability rights, including through an intersectional lens. Some of the initiatives highlighted included a research project examining the fundamental rights of disabled persons in institutions as well as FRA’s role in monitoring the EU’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
