Our annual 'Someone Like Me' art competition is a powerful platform that promotes disability awareness among young minds at primary school level. This competition aims to open young eyes to see beyond the surface and realise our similarities and unique differences. It serves as a tool for children to learn about inclusivity and diversity, engage in heartfelt conversations, sparking curiosity and empathy and express their learning through the medium of art.

More information about the competition is available to read on our Someone Like Me website.

National Senior Winner

Our award winning pupils from Muslim National School, Dublin decorated shoes as a way of telling stories, allowing us a glimpse into someone’s hopes, strengths and dreams. Many of the schools' pupils have both visible and invisible disabilities, and others face challenges that can’t always be seen. Together, the collection of shoes celebrates resilience and reminds us that though our paths may be different, every child’s step matters. It reminds us that we are all walking the same road to acceptance, belonging and understanding.

National Junior Winner

Our award winning second class pupils from St. Etchen's National School in Kinnegad, Co. Westmeath created a large 3D model of an accessible playpark. The students carried out research with their schoolmates with autism to inform the design and development of their playpark. These talented students compiled a scrapbook to accompany the model, showing all the research and ideas that went into the development of the model playpark.
