On 11 February, the NDA held an online webinar marking the launch of our new research study entitled ‘The Journey from Wardship to Supported Decision-Making: An Examination of the Process and the Experiences of People Leaving Wardship’.

The research examined the process and experience of the cessation of the system of wardship in Ireland and the commencement of the supported decision-making system. This examination concerned the perspectives of those who were made wards of court, committees and professionals involved in the transition from wardship and in the new supported decision-making system.

Our Director, Dr Aideen Hartney, provided introductory remarks at the event, with Senior Research Officer, Dr Nora Donnelly, and Senior Policy and Public Affairs Advisor, Ciarán Finlay, providing an overview of the main findings of the new research study.

The recording is now available to watch on our YouTube channel.
