National Disability Authority Annual Conference 2025

This year, our Annual Conference will examine Parenting, Relationships, and Sexual & Reproductive Rights in the context of Article 23 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Article 23 focuses on the right of persons with disabilities to marry and to have a family and requires measures to eliminate discrimination against disabled persons in all areas relating to parenthood, relationships, family, and sexual and reproductive rights.

The conference will be of interest to a wide range of stakeholders, in particular:

  • policy makers
  • public sector officials
  • local authority officials
  • Disabled Persons Organisations and other disability organisations
  • individuals with disabilities and their families.

Topics which will be explored include parenting, relationships and sexuality, maternity care and sexual and reproductive health and rights. Speakers and panellists at the conference will include disabled people and their representative organisations, public officials and academics. Discussions will focus on barriers faced by disabled people in realising their equal right to family life, and also the proposed solutions and good practices in supporting and empowering disabled people to have meaningful and healthy family lives and relationships.

The conference will take place on Thursday, 16 October, and will be a blended in-person and online event, with the physical venue at the Aviva Stadium, Dublin.

Please note that registration details will be made available at a later date. If you would like to receive updates on our annual conference, please email us at nda.annualconference@nda.ie.
