The NDA has published its Annual Report for the year ending 31 December 2024. The annual report presents an overview of our activities and outputs during the final year of our three-year Strategic Plan 2022-2024, which included:

  • Leading a nationwide consultation exercise which will inform the forthcoming National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People.
  • Hosting an Annual Conference on Article 30 of the UNCRPD.
  • Publishing its annual independent assessment of progress during 2023 on the Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities.
  • Publishing a discussion paper on new national targets for the employment rates of disabled people.
  • Hosting the Universal Grand Challenge 2024.
  • Submitting a Code of Practice for Accessible Buildings for approval to the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality.
  • Continuing to provide advice on and build awareness of the European Accessibility Act, ahead of it taking effect in mid-2025.
  • Completing a consultation and consultation report on the potential for a new National Disability Survey.
  • Publishing Universal Design Guidelines for Changing Places Toilets.
  • Launching our Strategic Plan 2025-2027.
  • Publishing a report on 2023 compliance with Part 5 of Disability Act 2005.
  • Publishing a report on 2023 compliance with EU Web Accessibility Directive.
  • Updating its guidance for Returning Officers on accessible voting and polling stations.
  • Advising the Government in the lead-up to the accession to the Optional Protocol to the UNCRPD.
  • Running the eighth edition of the Someone Like Me art competition.
  • Commencing a programme of works to improve the accessibility of its own building.
