The NDA has published two guidance documents:
• Good Practice Guidance for Commissioners of Autism Training in the Public Sector
• Good Practice Guidance for Commissioners of Disability Training in the Public Sector
The Autism Training Guidance was published under Action 6 of the Autism innovation Strategy, while the Disability Training Guidance is an update to the NDA’s original Guidelines for Purchasers of Disability Equality Training document from 2005.
The aim of these guidance documents is to support commissioners of disability and autism training across the public sector to procure appropriate training for their staff based on good practice. The training will support staff in their interactions with and understanding of disabled and autistic customers and in accepting and supporting disabled and autistic colleagues. The NDA consulted with several organisations in the development of these guidance documents, including Disabled Persons’ Organisations and officials who procure training courses in government departments and public bodies.
