Action 97: Policy Advice Paper on Achieving Universal Design in new housing

We produced this advice paper under Action 97 of the National Disability Inclusion Strategy 2017-21. The paper sets out the NDA’s advice on ways of achieving Universal Design solutions for new housing so that homes can be made accessible to all regardless of their age, size, ability or disability.

About this paper

This paper aims to set out a practical set of recommendations for consideration by Government on how to apply a Universal Design approach to the design and building of new homes in Ireland. The focus of the paper incorporates both social and private housing, and all housing types, e.g. apartments as well as traditional housing units.
