The NDA provided a submission to the Department of Finance to inform its consultation on a new Action Plan for Insurance Reform, covering the period 2025-2029. The NDA’s contribution covered a range of matters, including learnings and recommendations from the NDA’s review of the operation of Part 4 of the Disability Act 2005, as well as adherence to the EAA, the Assisted Decision Making (Capacity) Act 2015 and the revised Consumer Protection Code. Other issues addressed included legislating for a ‘Right to be Forgotten’ for cancer survivors and the impacts on disabled people of the exemption in the Equal Status Acts 2000–2018 permitting differential treatment of persons in relation to the provision of insurance policies.
