The NDA’s submission to the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht’s consultation recommended that the department align their new strategy with the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025-2030. It also stressed the need to involved disabled people through their representative organisation more in development of public policy and local government structures. This is particularly because the previous strategy contained no high-level references to disability.
The vision of the current strategy is to create vibrant, sustainable, inclusive, empowered and self-determining communities that support the social, cultural and economic well-being of all members.
