The NDA highlighted the importance of a child- and disability-rights framing in the NCSE’s next Statement of Strategy, and of alignment with statutory obligations (such as the EU Web Accessibility Directive and Irish Sign Language Act) and with other government policy processes, including the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People. We drew attention to the NCSE’s policy position on inclusive education and the reality of continued expansion of special education provision. We made recommendations relating to the rollout of the new Education Therapy Service, and to embedding meaningful consultation and a Universal Design in Education approach.
