NDA submission to the State Examinations Commission on the Reasonable Accommodations at Certificate Examinations (RACE) scheme

The NDA emphasised the importance of ensuring that the RACE application process is accessible, that teachers have sufficient guidance on it, and that students who are sitting their exams independently are adequately supported. We made recommendations on the use of assistive technology and AI, on providing extra time during exams, on extending RACE to mock exams, and on extending the possibility to defer exams to the Junior Cycle. We gave advice on ensuring meaningful consultation, on Universal Design in Education, and on considering more equitable assessment processes (i.e. Assessment for Inclusion).
